Awards & Recognition
The Rake Award: International Firewalk Gathering, 2025 (Scotland)
In 2025, at the International Firewalk Gathering in Badaguish, Scotland, Barry received The Rake Award, one of the highest honours within the global firewalking community.
The award was originally created by Rolf Beckman of Eight Directions, hand-crafted from sterling silver and first presented to Tolly Burkan, widely regarded as the modern founder of firewalking. It recognises individuals who have made an extraordinary contribution to humanity through firewalking by raising standards, deepening understanding, and advancing the art and spirit of the firewalk.
The Rake Award is not presented annually, nor by routine. It is bestowed only when a truly worthy recipient is present – someone whose service and influence have left a lasting impact on the international firewalking movement.
Barry’s recognition with this award honours his leadership in the global community, his commitment to safety and empowerment, and his role in hosting and shaping the 2025 International Firewalk Gathering in Scotland, as well as his long-standing dedication to the firewalking path since 2015.
